Christopher's Story:
Christopher Joseph Migliozzi was born on April 24th, 2003 at INOVA Fairfax
Hospital in Falls Church, Virginia at 9:38am. Christopher weighed
6lb's and 12 ounces and was 19-3/4" long.
Christopher has endured many
hospital and doctor's visits since he was born. Christopher started off life in the NICU at
Fairfax Hospital due to fluid in his lungs, an erratic heartbeat, difficulty
breathing and jaundice. We were able to come home as a family on April
28th.

On Friday October 10th we had a Barium
Swallow test done to see how bad his reflux is. In doing the x-rays
the Radiologist noticed abnormalities on Christopher's spine. We were
immediately sent to our Pediatrician for a consultation. An early
diagnosis of Hurler's Syndrome was made. Blood was taken the
following Monday and sent to Jefferson Medical Labs in Philadelphia.
On Friday October 17th the results of the test were conclusive,
Christopher was diagnosed with Hurler's Syndrome (Mucopolysaccharidoses I).

Christopher underwent chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant in order to
save his life, you can read about his journey on these pages. He was
inpatient in Johns Hopkins Hospital for almost six straight months. He died
on June 11, 2004. In July 2005 he sent down his sister for us to love, and
in November 2006, he sent down his brother. |
